About us

FAR FROM HOME was created for internationals who arrive in a new city and suddenly find themselves without a support system.
Moving to a foreign country can be exciting, but it can also feel deeply isolating. The language barrier, not knowing where to start, and not having friends to rely on can make everyday life feel heavy-especially for young women who arrive alone.

FAR FROM HOME exists to respond to that feeling. It was born from the experience of arriving in Rome without a community and wishing for a simple, safe way to meet other internationals going through the same transition.

It creates small, international spaces where foreigners can meet over breakfast, share a table, talk and get to know each other-without pressure or expectations.

This is a space designed for Millennials and Gen Z who are new (or still feeling new) to the city, who want to build friendships and a sense of belonging FAR FROM HOME.

We also offer small-group city walks, created to help newcomers explore Rome beyond tourist routes-through neighborhoods, culture and everyday life.

FAR FROM HOME is built on kindness, respect and openness. It is about connection, community and feeling a little less alone.
